There is a long history of violence against gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, and the transgender/gender-nonconforming community, and year after year it continues to intensify.
The F*ck It Bracelet represents your commitment to end hate crimes against the LGBTQ+ community. Every bracelet donates $5 to help better protect this community, by supporting PFLAG, the first and largest organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people, their parents and families, and allies. Together, we help support their commitment to creating a world where diversity is celebrated and all people are respected, protected, valued, and affirmed.
Cause Bracelets are not just cute colored bracelets. We believe in clearly displaying to the world what you stand for in order to create a space for positive, nonaggressive conversation helping other people ask themselves, “well what can I, my friends and family do to help solve this issue?” We've seen it time and time again, someone will ask, “where’d you get that bracelet? What is it for?” BOOM you have a creative opening to raise awareness.
This is why we have created a brand that clearly and proudly represents important causes all over the world!
Hate crime data remains grossly under-supported, the little data that is available suggests crimes motivated by a bias toward gender identity have generally risen since 2013. Did you know the lifetime prevalence of rape is higher for bisexual women (46%) compared to heterosexual women (17%)? The lifetime prevalence of sexual violence other than rape is 46% for lesbians, 75% for bisexual women and 43% for heterosexual women. The vast majority report male perpetrators.
According to the Human Rights Campaign, at least 11 transgender people have been fatally shot or killed by other violent means in 2019. Recent media reports suggest that crimes against black transgender women, in particular, have spiked.
This data reported by the FBI and CDC, however, likely dramatically underestimates the true number of hate crimes against the LGBTQ community. Experts say given flaws in the current data collection process and massive discrepancies with the much larger number of self-reported incidents, the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS), is a better gauge of U.S hate crime trends in the U.S. This self-reported data administered by the U.S. Census Bureau, suggests that Americans experience closer to 200,000 hate crimes each year.
It also suggests that a greater percentage of all hate crimes are motivated by a bias against sexual orientation as many people who experience hate crimes do not report the incidents to law enforcement, unfortunately for numerous reasons.
Together we CAN make a difference. We can do what matters. Every F*ck Hate Bracelet helps us towards our goal irradiating violence against all members of the LGBTQ community. When you purchase a bracelet you will be helping support PFLAG, the first and largest organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people, their parents and families, and allies.
Every bracelet purchased donates $5 which helps support their commitment to creating a world where diversity is celebrated and all people are respected, protected, valued, and affirmed.
Our goal is that this cause will truly matter to EVERYONE DAILY. LGBTQ rights can no longer be a quarterly news recap. Its importance can no longer just trend for a month. THIS HAS TO MATTER EVERY DAY until violence and hate is irradiated.
We don’t all have to agree, but we must understand there is no place for hate or physical violence in our society, especially against those who simply wish to love who they love out loud. There is nothing wrong with that.
